The most important aspect of my life is my ability to write songs and to perform. Doing anything creative and coming up with new ideas is something very special. If you're a gardener you'll plant a tree one day and ten years later it'll have grown and branched out and you'll think 'I planted that 10 years ago. Now look at it!'. Songwriting is the same thing. You write a song and if you're still playing it in 10 years time it will have evolved into a whole new animal. It's a satisfying thing. I'm inspired by great music and if it wasn't for people like Mark Knopfler and Sting things would be very different.
